After Adoption
After bringing your new puppy home, if there is another animal in the house introduce the puppy slowly. If the other animal is a dog put him on a leash with another adult controlling the situation so when you put the puppy down if there is trouble you can grab him fast.  Do not ever leave the puppy alone with a older dog.

Start house breaking right away. Start by taking the puppy out to go potty every hour or so especially after eating, napping, and before bed. You will slowly see a pattern when he needs to go out.  Always supply your puppy with fresh water and feed 3 times a day when under 4 months of age.  Then you can switch to 2 times a day once they are older than 4 months. Only feed what the puppy will eat in 5 minutes -- no more ---you don’t want a fat puppy.  Next you need to find a vet for your puppy to get a full exam by a veterinarian. Make sure that you ask him any questions you might have about the breed . The best place to get questions answered is from your vet.

Exercise and chewing are very important for your puppy so provide many chew toys for him/her so they won’t be tempted to chew on your furniture.
The best time to brush the puppy is in the evening or before nap time.  This will let you be able to feel over the puppies body for anything different.   Start this right away, the more often you brush him/her the easier it will become later when he/she is not a puppy anymore. Basic obedience is very important to dogs and it will not be hard to teach the puppy to learn the basic commands of: come, sit, down, stay, and stand.  However, it may take some time.

Always remember the puppy is in the house so if you see anything that is unsafe to puppy remove it.  There are things that are bad for the puppies to get a hold of.  If you think he might get into it, he/she probably will.
Make sure you crate/confine the puppy when you cannot watch him so he/she will be kept safe.
